Overview of the award

We are delighted to announce that the school is working towards an 'Excellence in Pupil Development Award'. We believe that the development of students personal skills such as empathy, conflict resolution, communication skills etc are vital for them to develop as they prepare for adulthood. Research has shown that it also has a long term positive impact on academic outcomes.

Whilst we strongly believe that academic success is a priority within the school, we also believe that preparing students for life in an increasingly complex world is also important so that they can make positive contributions to society and understand their responsibilities towards themselves and others.

At Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, we understand the importance of providing comprehensive support to our students. We have implemented various initiatives to address their overall well- being and mental health. This includes the presence of Mental Health First Aiders in both primary and secondary phases, making professional counselling available four days a week, and appointing mental health ambassadors and anti-bullying ambassadors.

Furthermore, we continuously strive to create a positive environment for our students through the Toot-Toot student reporting platform, a comprehensive PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health, and Citizenship Education) program and regular student and parent surveys held every term.

We believe that by adopting a student-centred approach and addressing the needs and concerns of our students and parents, we can provide an exceptional level of support. In addition, our commitment to online safety is evident through our online safety bulletin, which we regularly share with our school community. We are confident that these initiatives, along with our continuous efforts to strive for excellence in all aspects, make us deserving candidates for the Student Support Award. However, we cannot achieve this without your support as parents. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us, and we thank you for your ongoing cooperation and involvement in our school's activities.

Your feedback and suggestions have always played a vital role in shaping our approach towards student support. We value your continued support and encourage you to share any ideas or concerns you may have regarding the well-being of our students. Together, we can make a

difference and maintain a nurturing environment for the growth and development of our children in order for us to progress on working on an action plan, please complete the survey below via the link. The deadline for this is Friday, 15th December.
